Talk Summary: Kentucky has 16,000 known orphan oil and gas wells but another 30,000 suspected orphans. Finding these wells has been a challenge involving the paper documents from over a century of wildcat drilling. Using georeferencing, AI, and a lot of man hours, Kentucky is striving to locate and plug the type of historic wells that pose the most environmental risk today
