Biography

Meredith Swallom has been with the KGS since 2022. In this time, she has contributed to a variety of funded projects (USGS STATEMAP, NSF EPSCoR) as well as initiatives related to surface processes and shallow geohazards. She combines remote sensing and field data to investigate complex linkages between extreme weather and topography and has demonstrated expertise in geospatial analysis and modeling workflows. Outside of her primary research, Meredith is dedicated to contributing to a resilient Commonwealth and robust geoscience workforce. To that end, she spends substantial time interfacing with stakeholders at local conferences and in their communities, participating in KGS educational outreach within the Red River Gorge Geological Area, and coordinating interdisciplinary student research experiences as part of the KGS’s Potter Intern Program.
