Biography

Cheyenne Hohman has served as the Publication Resources Curator for the Kentucky Geological Survey since 2023. The driving force behind recent initiatives to organize, store, and preserve KGS historical and archival materials, Cheyenne's efforts have been critical in redesigning and deploying new workflows for the KGS publications and maps collections. Grant-funded and KGS-driven duties include physical storage and preservation, overhauling digital collections taxonomy and storage schemas, adding hundreds of freshly scanned materials to the web, rehoming at-risk archival materials, and supervising students and employees working with the collections. Cheyenne is also the main point of contact for individuals who want to purchase KGS publications or obtain hard copies of USGS topographic maps of Kentucky.

Cheyenne is deeply committed to universal access to information, including ADA/508 accessibility, Creative Commons licensing of materials, and understanding copyright and distribution of KGS intellectual property. In the future, Cheyenne hopes to have a near-complete collection of the entire works of the Kentucky Geological Survey spanning from its establishment in 1854 to the present day to support research in the geosciences.
