Biography
Matt’s research focuses on landslide characterization and conditions that lead to slope failure. He is an engineering geologist with experience in landslide inventory mapping, landside susceptibility modeling, landslide risk assessment, and slope stability. Specifically, he leverages historical and event-based landslide inventories for use in statistical, geomorphic based susceptibility modeling to evaluate where landslides are likely to occur. Matt is interested in hazard communication and event response that are helpful to communities that may be at risk from landslide hazards. He has a B.A. from Hanover College, an M.S. from Eastern Kentucky University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Kentucky. Matt is also an adjunct faculty member in the Earth and Environmental Sciences Department.
