Hydrogeology and Karst
The KGS Hydrogeology & Karst team was formed to conduct field investigation, research, and dissemination on surface water and groundwater resources in Kentucky to support sustainable water resources management and help build resilience on water availability, flooding, karst and sinkhole hazards. The team seeks to advance Kentucky’s hydrologic science through collaborative research, unbiased public data sharing, and vigorous engagement with stakeholders. The team operates and maintains the Kentucky Groundwater Observation Network (KGON), the Kentucky Groundwater Data Repository, and Hydrologic Modeling Lab (HML) in the Mining and Mineral Resources Building (MMRB) and the Western Kentucky Office in Henderson.
